    DIFFERENT PERMISSIONS FOR TOPICS IN THE SAME FORUM


    Overview

    Description

    In this tutorial you will learn to make some topics available only to specific user groups, even when they are in a forum that is accessible for all. For instance, you could show some topics only to admins, some topics only to guests etc.

    Technical limitations

    › This tutorial is dedicated to the forums powered by Forumotion free forum service
    › Requires to be the Founder of the #Forumotion Forum
    › It works with all Forumotion forums' versions
    › It only works with phpBB2 and PunBB Forumotion forums' versions

    Installation

    Introduction

    We will remove a specific topic from the topiclist if the topic includes some icons we will specify in the code below. For instance, if you have defined that topics including
    Code:
    icon A
    must be removed if you are an admin, only admins will be able to see it.

    Installation

    We will begin by creating a subject icon. Append the following the following code to your JavaScript-file:

    PunBB


    phpBB 2


    Then, replace
    Code:
    ICONLINK
    with the link to any image you'd like.

    Defining the permissions

    Now, replace
    Code:
    STATUSID
    with:
    • Code:
      1
      if the topics with that icon must be removed for non admins (mod, mebers and guests)
    • Code:
      2
      if the topics with that icon must be removed for non moderators (in general, not of that forum) (admins, members, guests)
    • Code:
      3
      if the topics with that icon must be removed for non members (admins, mods, guests)
    • Code:
      4
      if the topics with that icon must be removed for non guests (admins, members, mods)

                  okay, i have a question. I couldn't make it to run in my forum.

                  Is this because of the version? I use PhpBB3. And i don get this pretty well in fact. If this does nothing to do with the version of my forum. How can i make this work?
