Laravel or CodeIgniter

I have been playing with the codeigniter and the laravel lately. I find them a bit hard to understand but slowly learning about them and going to build some demo projects to get the hang of it.

Which framework among the two do you prefer?

I will always go for the plain-text editor - but I should start learning how to use Laravel actually
